It’s a directory of expert travel advisors paired with an extensive knowledgebase of travel content that demonstrates their expertise. Put simply, Yodl.travel surfaces who you need, based on what you need.
We believe many vacations are best planned by experienced travel advisors. However, too many travel agencies place a wall between travelers and travel advisors. The advantage of using Yodl is that you get to choose your own travel advisor based on the criteria that matters most to you. This could mean an advisor with firsthand experience in the destination you’d like to visit. Or an advisor that speaks your language (literally or figuratively). Or perhaps someone who shares your interests.
No, Yodl is not a travel agency. We do not take bookings or process reservations, but rather serve to connect travelers with the right travel advisors based on specific traveler needs and styles.
Yes, Yodl is a free resource for travelers to find the right travel advisor.
Yodl makes money through annual membership dues paid by our member travel advisors. Yodl provides the support and resources our member advisors need to showcase their verified experience and expertise, but you as travelers have free access to choose your advisor.
Yodl does not charge any fees, but the cost of each advisor’s service is between you and your chosen travel advisor (or their travel agency, host agency network, or consortium, if applicable). Many travel advisors provide their services for free, while others charge a fixed rate or variable commission. We suggest discussing this upfront with your preferred advisor.
We exist to build rewarding long-term relationships between travelers and travel planners. This starts with giving travelers the power to choose their own advisor, and requires each member travel advisor to prove their expertise before declaring it. Furthermore, Yodl is not affiliated, obligated, or subject to any particular supplier, agency, or product. Therefore, we have no outside pressure influencing our recommendations and no agenda other than helping you find the right travel advisor.

Planning a vacation can be difficult, confusing, stressful, time-consuming, and costly. But it can also be easy, educational, enjoyable, quick, and rewarding. We prefer the latter, and that’s what the right travel advisor delivers.
These terms are used interchangeably. At Yodl, we prefer to use “travel advisor” as a more accurate representation of the breadth of services offered by a modern travel planner, but don’t be surprised to find each of these used equally amongst our travel advisor members. Keep in mind, our member advisors each belong to different agencies or organizations, and therefore may refer to themselves in the language adopted by their respective employers or companies.
Since Yodl is not a travel agency, our member advisors all belong to different agencies or organizations. For a fee, Yodl allows these travel advisors to build and host their personal advisor profile on yodl.travel. We also provide a platform and resources for advisors to publish content to demonstrate their travel-related experience, expertise, authority, and trustworthiness. There is no employment or contractor relationship between Yodl and its member advisors.
Clients of our travel advisors have the opportunity to rate their advisor using a 5-star scale. Client reviews may be unsolicited or requested by member advisors, but it is a violation of Yodl’s terms for a client to be compensated or enticed to give a positive review. We use our best efforts to verify the validity of all ratings and reviews.
Clients of our travel advisors can submit ratings with reviews on each advisors’ Yodl profile. Each client is permitted one review, and must verify that the review is both their own and based on their genuine opinion before submitting.
Yes. To respect the time of both you and our member advisors, we request that you limit your outreach to only your most preferred advisors. Our Travel Advisor Search makes it easy to filter and sort results to meet your requirements.
Yodl uses its best efforts to ascertain the accuracy of our travel advisor profiles. This information is gathered from the advisor and, per our Terms of Service, the advisor is required to provide accurate information and maintain its accuracy over time. Regarding each travel advisor’s expertise, Yodl advisors must first demonstrate their expertise prior to claiming it. Expertise is demonstrated and verified through the advisor’s ability to create expert-led articles and guides for Yodl’s Expert Insights. All advisor authored content is reviewed and approved by Yodl’s editorial team prior to publication on yodl.travel.
We strongly believe expertise is rooted in experience, and Yodl’s editorial team pushes our travel advisor members to incorporate firsthand and secondhand experience in every piece. Yodl also encourages consumers to share honest ratings and reviews to validate the expertise of our advisor members. And of course it doesn’t hurt that Yodl is owned and operated by Whirr Digital, an SEO-focused digital marketing company specializing in travel and tourism. Both are founded and led by Seth Woodward, a travel industry veteran with 15+ years of digital marketing and travel agency experience.
We probably don’t, but we also don’t pretend otherwise. Yodl is proudly independent, meaning we have no external agency or supplier pressure influencing our recommendations. However, the same can’t be said for our travel advisor members who are responsible for most of Yodl’s travel content. They likely do belong to agencies or organizations that have preferred partnerships and affiliations, potentially with travel suppliers, operators, and products. It would be naive to think their experiences, affiliations, and business relationships aren’t influencing their opinions. Fortunately, our mission isn’t to eliminate the biases baked into our advisor-authored content. Instead, it’s to give travelers free access to a wide range of travel advisor experts so that you are empowered to make your own informed decision.
