Traveling With Moore
I design journeys that go beyond the usual checklists, with a special love for road trips and journeys that uncover America’s hidden gems and iconic landmarks. By weaving in local perspectives and personal connections, I help travelers experience places in ways that spark curiosity, empathy, and a richer understanding of the world. My intention is for every trip—near or far—to become more than a vacation, but a journey that deepens how you see and connect with life.

When I started Traveling With Moore, I knew I wanted to focus on domestic travel. I researched and joined tourism boards across the country, I researched National Parks & Lands, I discovered oddities and “only in America” places, and much more. For example, did you know that the only place in the world to see a moonbow, a rainbow made by moonlight, is in Kentucky? They also have the world’s largest stainless steel pan at over 8 feet wide, which is in daily use. You can stop by and watch them fry your lunch in it.
Additionally, I want to connect travelers in deeper, more personal ways instead of checklists of iconic places, one after another seen the same way every other visitor sees it. The Grand Canyon is a must-see, but imagine a shutterbug connecting with a local who knows how to shoot it best, or an artist spending time with a local creative, or a Native guide sharing its cultural meaning. You see the same sights, but from a personal perspective.
I also have very fond memories of all the road trips my family enjoyed taking me to more than 40 states. I have always been the one in the family that puts everything together, and I’d noticed how much harder it has become to plan. There are so many things to know before you book anything and you have to book everything now, unlike when I was a kid. Then you just found a motel when you were tired and drove into the park whenever you wanted.
Today it is much different. Research is paramount and there are thousands of groups on Facebook alone to get advice and recommendations, which may or may not be trustworthy. So many busy people just can’t spend that time and so don’t take those trips, which is sad on so many levels. I love getting a chance to create a great road trip for a client, and hearing all the things they got to see and do afterwards makes me so very happy.
Travel really is the only thing you buy that makes you richer. It is so important, even if you don’t go far. America is full of various cultures, history, perspectives, and traditions. Experiencing them gives an understanding of those parts of America. It helps bridge divides, abolish stereotypes, and reminds us that behind every difference is a human story. The more you engage with people different from you, the more you see what connects us—shared values, daily joys, universal hopes. Travel nurtures empathy, curiosity, and open-mindedness. It softens assumptions and stretches your view of the world and your place in it. Over time, it changes how you move through life—more aware, more compassionate, and more connected.
This is the kind of transformation I hope my travelers find, regardless of how or where they travel—not just a great vacation, but a journey that deepens how you see the world.
When you work with me, we start with a personal consultation to explore your travel ideas, preferences, and style. From there, I craft a tailored itinerary and handle every detail—from research and bookings to adjustments and monitoring—so you can focus on the adventure. Audra planned our dream trip to England and Scotland for our 35th anniversary. It was more than we could ever have asked for. Audra was also very on top of things while we were on our trip. A couple of snags came up while we were traveling, and Audra took care of everything. Truly, we couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you, Audra! (via Google Business Profile)
I contacted Audra Moore in April for help in planning a two week RV trip to see multiple national parks in Utah, Arizona and California. Over the next few months, Audra helped in identifying which parks to see, available RV options, identifying the highlights to see at each park, and putting together an itinerary (including travel times) for getting to each park within the two week time frame. (In fact, Audra even created two additional itineraries to accommodate a possible schedule change, one of which turned out to be very helpful.) She also put together maps for each park, descriptions of outstanding attractions at each park, and made all this available online for easy viewing as we proceeded on our trip. And she was very responsive at every point of the planning process as well as during our trip. Audra’s help was essential to making this big adventure a resounding success, and I strongly recommend her services to anyone who is planning a vacation or other travel! (via Google Business Profile)
Audra Moore is an outstanding Travel Agent providing services throughout the planning stages and on the ground assistance during the trip. She is efficient, professional and a pleasure to work with. She juggled many passengers coming in for an incentive trip, airline reservations and many changes due to delays and flight cancellations. She was watching each flight and made sure the passengers arrived at the destination with little anxiety. She arranged ground transportation and event planning. We had a fabulous trip thanks to her great planning! (via Virtuoso)
It’s hard to pack in as much stuff to see and do for any interest into one area as The Black Hills do. A quintessential wild west area, it’s easy to satisfy any cowboy or girl dreams you have. Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore are art projects on an immense scale. For nature, photo, hiking, fishing, or art buffs, you have a plethora of choices. Small calm lakes to the boulders of Sylvan lake, hikes of every variety through forests or vast meadows, along creeks, up into the Needles area, there is a spot perfect for everyone. Bison, elk, big horn sheep, pronghorns, eagles, ospreys, falcons are only some of the wildlife. A must do on every visit for me is highway 87 with old one way railroad tunnels (one frames Mt. Rushmore perfectly) and pig tail bridges with a last stop at the Purple Pie Place.
You may have heard that photos don’t do the Grand Canyon justice, and that is spot on. The camera just can’t capture the layers of cliffs, the expanse of sky, the play of light and shadow, and the deep colors the way the human eye can. If you see no other national park, see this one. Although the park can be very busy, you can still find spots away from the crowds to gaze in wonder at this enormous crack in the earth. Even if you stay on the rim, the sights and experiences are incredible. If you do venture below the rim, you are part of only 5% of visitors that do. My favorite way to enter the park is by taking the train. Beautiful scenery, no traffic, and bandits. Come back that evening or stay in the park for a day or two. The train ticket also allows you to enter the park for 7 days.
I grew up traveling and that allowed me to visit 17 of our National Parks, and numerous other national lands. I went beyond books and learned about the revolutionary and civil wars by visiting battlefields. I visited museums and monuments on the Mall in DC. I’ve swam and played on national shores, visited homes of national importance, hiked part of a national trail, and so much more. Each place informed my idea of America—its history, its greatness, its failings, its immense natural wealth, its sheer size. Few Americans live far from a site or two, and many are easy to incorporate into a road trip. Many can be educational, some are vast, some small, some relaxing, others engaging, but all can be enjoyed by anyone.
My husband and I visited Central Europe and found so much to love. Prague was one of our favorites. Its historical area is so large, it’s easy to immerse yourself in history. Prague Castle is stunning and has so many interesting bits to it. One of my favorites was the alley of small apartments that were inhabited up to 1951 and the glimpses of everyday life contained there. I am always amazed at the enduring construction of roads, bridges, and buildings of the past. I find new foods to love and discover delicious ways of preparing foods I didn’t think I liked. When I visit countries that are very different from mine, I’m always amazed at the varied ways we humans solve everyday problems differently. The world just expands in so many ways, yet feels closer in so many others.
